What to Do When You Feel Too Old to Learn AI

The twenty-five-year-olds who look fluent were not taught AI either. They were handed it earlier and had less to lose by pressing the wrong button. That is the whole difference.

You are not behind a curriculum, because there is no curriculum. There are people who have typed into the box more times than you have, and that is a lead measured in hours, not years.

Women your age get penalized twice: once for not knowing something nobody taught them, and once for asking about it. You have spent a career being the person who knows, and this puts you at the bottom of a room you already left.

Notice that feeling and say it out loud, because it is what is stopping you. Not the software. The software is a text box.

Pick one assistant. Not five. Use it every day for a week on something you actually care about: the letter you have been avoiding, the family history you want to organize, the guide only you could write.

Practice prompts on subjects you do not care about teach you nothing. Use it on the real thing and correct it when it is wrong. Correcting a clumsy answer is not a sign you are bad at this. It is the method.

It can produce a thousand words in four seconds and it cannot tell you which of them is true. You can. You have forty years of knowing what actually happens when a client says that, or a plan meets a real week.

That is not a consolation prize. That is the entire business. The tool writes, you decide, and that has always been the job.
