How to Start a Business in Your Sixties Without a Website
Your first customers come from people who already know you, and they will buy long before you have a site. A website is a container for a business that already works — it is not what makes it work.

The website is the comfortable part
Building a site feels like progress. There is a logo, a color palette, an about page, and at the end of three weeks you have spent money and talked to nobody.
The uncomfortable part is the only part that pays: telling a person what you do and asking whether she wants it. Everything that delays that conversation is a way of hiding from it, and the website is the most respectable hiding place there is.
Start with the list, not the domain
Write down ten people you know who have the problem you solve. Not ten potential customers — ten people whose number is already in your phone. Former colleagues. The woman from your old department. The friend who asked you last year what you did about it.
Then contact them, one at a time, personally. Not a broadcast. Not a newsletter. A message that says what you are doing and asks one question about her situation. Two or three will tell you something useful. One will ask what it costs.

Take the money simply
You need a way to be paid, and that is all you need. A payment link, an invoice, a transfer. The technology should take an afternoon, not a month.
Use AI for the parts you dread: turning your explanation into three sentences, writing the follow-up, describing what she gets. It is very good at the awkward bits. It is not good at knowing your industry, which is the part you have been carrying for forty years.
Let the site come later, and smaller
Once you have three paying clients and a sentence that reliably makes people ask a second question, you will know exactly what the site should say. Then it is a two-day job instead of a two-month one.
Starting without it is not a shortcut. It is the correct order.
